Woody the Witness Says – Don't Peck on Others!
Bar Members to use Joke-telling to Teach Important Lessons The Lawyers for Children Committee of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association unveiled a new children’s program similar to a program presented by the Allegheny County Bar Association in Pittsburg, PA. The 30-minute program called “Woody the Witness Says – Don’t Peck on Others!” helps students understand what is a good joke and what is a bad joke. More importantly, it addresses the serious issues of diversity and why making fun of others is wrong. Students can bring their favorite jokes to the seminar to share with one another. Attorney members of the Bar will lead the discussion. The program is intended to compliment programs already in place in the schools. Every student receives a gift to reinforce the message received at the seminar. To date, members of the Lawyers for Children Committee have presented the program at over 20 area elementary schools. You can download the brochure if you would like additional information. Attorneys and/or judges can volunteer for this project, by completing the volunteer form and fax it to Amy Robinson at (816) 474-0103. Click on a photo to enlarge: |
